Rapper Gets Two Years for Cop Killing Song

Authorities say 20-year-old Antavio Johnson raps about killing two Lakeland, Fla., police officers in the tune, which cops found on MySpace while surfing for gang-related activity.
Johnson pleaded no contest to two counts of corruption by threat of a public servant and was sentenced to two years in prison last month. He was already in jail on a cocaine charge at the time. ...
Singing about killing a cop was not Johnson's first mistake. Pleading guilty and not hiring a lawyer were. Just ask Ice Cube and N.W.A., who sang '%#@* tha Police' as a form of police protest more than 20 years ago.
According to the Daily Beast, Johnson was trying to make a similar lyrical protest when he wrote 'Kill Me a Cop,' about two police officers who harassed him.
The song announced: "Im'ma kill me a cop one day." It called out two specific officers by name, both of whom would be shot with a "glock" in the "dome" if they ever "get my timing wrong." The best part is not the snappy lyrics. If you Google this kid's name, you'll see that he's a self-proclaimed Christian rapper.
Anyway, did Johnson deserve a two-year sentence for some stupid lyrics he wrote as a teenager? No, of course not.
Nanobees Sting Cures Tumors

Microscopic "nanobees" that literally sting tumours to death have been successfully used to fight cancer.
Researchers in the US unleashed swarms of the tiny artificial particles on human breast and skin tumors in mice.
Each spherical "nanobee", measuring just three millionths of an inch across, was armed with a cancer-killing toxin found in bee venom.
Targeting cancer but not healthy cells, the nanobees delivered a lethal "sting".
The bee toxin, melittin, destroys cells by drilling holes through them.
After four to five injections of melittin-carrying nanobees over several days, the growth of breast cancer tumours in the mice was slowed by nearly 25%.
Melanoma - or skin cancer - tumours shrank in size by 88%.

Allen Iverson Gets Emotional
Just a little upset how GlobalGrind.com titled this video "Is A.I. A Cry Baby?". Just because Allen Iverson is speaking from the heart and begun to tear does not mean that he is a cry baby, so my answer is no. I thought his speech was very appropriate and I appreciated him speaking the truth about his life.

Twitter Users Shame CNN or Not Covering Iran Elections, Riots

Throughout the day users on Twitter and Facebook posted updates on civil unrest and police violence going on in Tehran. They shot photos with their cell phones and posted them online where American Twitter users could see them and distribute them.
Twitterers were quick on re-tweeting news on Iran and covering what CNN wasn’t. Some of the top stories from CNN today were on Six Flags’ bankruptcy filing, a grandmother in Nevada who was running a meth lab, and the complaints from people about their analog TV disappearing.
Twitter is the second most popular social network in the US after Facebook."

BET Networks Are Sorry for Young Money Performance At Bet Awards

Days after being lambasted for its 2009 awards programming
BET says it “regrets” and will edit encore presentations of the show. “BET Networks deeply regrets the performance by Young money at the BET Awards 09 (featuring Lil Wayne, Drake, Mack Maine, and Gudda Gudda),” a BET representative told AllHipHop.com. The controversial performance, with immense sexual references and young girls, including Lil Wayne’s daughter, appearing on stage, sparked a series of letters, complaints and on-air interviews with radio and television personalities earlier this week. According to BET sources, a number of elements were not to have taken place during the performance:“Elements of the performance were unplanned and should not have happened.” While the network gains points for its apology today, a record breaking number of viewers watched the BET Awards 09′ Sunday. In its own press release, BET confirmed that its 09′ ceremony pulled in a record 10.65 million total viewers. As early as July 6, the next air date for the show, BET will have edited the performance with Lil Wayne and Drake.

Ron Artest Signs To Lakers!?

The Lakers will defend their NBA title next season with Ron Artest as their new starting small forward.
Artest, among the top free agents this summer and one of the league's best defenders, agreed yesterday to join the Lakers for the so-called mid-level contract. The exact value won't be known until next week when the salary cap is set, but should be in the neighborhood of $19 million over three years for the Queensbridge product. Free-agent signings cannot be announced until Wednesday.
Artest also had considered a mid-level offer from the Cavaliers. When free agency opened earlier this week, he met with LeBron James in California. He will take a pay cut from the $7.4 million he made last season in Houston (he can expect to make about $5.8 million this season with the Lakers), but this will be his best chance to win an NBA title.
Artest's addition should make the Lakers the favorites to repeat, since he figures to be an upgrade over Trevor Ariza, who has agreed to a deal with the Rockets. As Artest met with Lakers executives, Ariza met with Houston officials yesterday, and is also is expected to get the mid-level exception.
Artest, 29, helped the Rockets advance to the second round of the playoffs last season - where they pushed the Lakers to Game 7 - despite the team losing Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming. Although he was a central figure in the infamous brawl in Auburn Hills in 2004 as a member of the Pacers and has had other notable off-court problems, the former St. John's star has stayed out of trouble of late.

Percocet and Vicodin
ADELPHI, Md. — A federal advisory panel voted narrowly on Tuesday to recommend a ban on Percocet and Vicodin, two of the most popular prescription painkillers in the world, because of their effects on the liver.
The two drugs combine a narcotic with acetaminophen, the ingredient found in popular over-the-counter products like Tylenol and Excedrin. High doses of acetaminophen are a leading cause of liver damage, and the panel noted that patients who take Percocet and Vicodin for long periods often need higher and higher doses to achieve the same effect.
Acetaminophen is combined with different narcotics in at least seven other prescription drugs, and all of these combination pills will be banned if the Food and Drug Administration heeds the advice of its experts. Vicodin and its generic equivalents alone are prescribed more than 100 million times a year in the United States.
